Friday Night was the big Upward end of the season awards night. It's always a lot of fun. They bring in a performer and the kids just love it. Here is Miranda performing with all the other cheerleaders before the main act. I wish I'd gotten a video. It was quite darling.
The performer they had this year was a Harlem Globetrotteresque ball handling expert. He was awesome. The kids were screaming and clapping and begging to be his helpers. He picked about 5 or 6 out of over a hundred kids and Miranda was one of the lucky few. Here she is on stage leaning her head back with a sucker stick in her mouth. A minute later, this stick was supporting a rapidly spinning basketball. I really wish I'd gotten a video of that.
So, now basketball season is officially over for everyone but Chad. (We finally caved on club ball for basketball which is far less Sunday play than club baseball and now he is on a travelling team. Consequently Chad's basketball season never ends - much to the joy of his Aunt Emily who for some insane reason does not like baseball. Whatever!) Now we are on to spring sports. Yesterday I went to bed with a pound of dirt clinging to my hair and covering my skin from spending time at the baseball and soccer fields but I love it. Now if only March was not also accompanied by a million miserable allergies. Ugh!
