So, Sam and I spend tons of time helping Chad and Aaron with their homework. That's all fine and dandy, but sadly, it leaves us with little time or energy left over to help Bethany and Miranda with theirs. Usually it's not too big of a deal because they don't get a lot of homework and they can pretty much handle it themselves - or so we thought. Yesterday, we had about 10 minutes before the bus came so I decided to just look over Bethany's homework before she left. I checked her math and was surprised to find that she had half of the answers wrong. I asked her how she had determined the answers on these particular questions. She said, "Oh, mom, I didn't know how to do those, so I just guessed." Great! Anyhoo, Sam decided to have a homework checking session with Miss Bethy last night and here is how it went.
Sam - "Bethany, bring me your homework."
Bethany whines for five minutes and finally brings him her backpack.
Sam - "Bethany get your homework out."
Bethany gets her homework folder out and hands it to him.
Sam - "Bethany, get your homework out of the folder."
Bethany - "Do I have to do everything?"
They start going over the problems. When they come to one that is wrong, Sam asks her how one goes about working such a problem.
Bethany - "Don't you know how to do it?" (with an eye roll that makes it quite clear that she thinks Sam must be one seriously incompetent math teacher.)
Oh boy!
