High Adventure!

Last week was the greatly anticipated (well sort of anticipated) high adventure biking trip for Sam and Chad.  Chad actually was really mad about missing a week of legion ball.  I think he is not entirely confident that his team can go on without him;  but he survived and so did they. :) So anyhoo, these boys were definitely high (in the mountains that is-get your minds out of the gutter) and it was definitely an adventure so we consider the trip a success.

Warriors ready to head out.  They biked for several weekends in preparation for the trip.  Chad missed a few of those trips and made them up cycling at the gym.  It is kind of fun to have a gym buddy.
A big thanks to Ty for getting these great pictures.  I see a great future ahead of him in the field of photography.
Chad cycled his little legs off and still gained five pounds on the trip.  That says a lot about Brother Schoof's gourmet cooking. :)

We are lucky that the boys didn't encounter any forest fires in the mountains.  Fires are breaking out everywhere and having a sky full of smoke has become commonplace in the Albuquerque metro area most evenings.  Aaron tried to get a picture of the sun during a particularly smoky sunset but he wasn't able to quite capture the eery brilliant red color.  That Wallow fire is something else!
Here is what they did encounter though.  This crazy bear kept coming into the boys' camp site even after the boys yelled and drove him off several times.  He even took one of the boys' back pack.  The forest ranger had to come and "relocate" him.  Unfortunately, this particular bear had been relocated twice before so we have the feeling he might have met a much more sinister fate.  Yikes!
