Crazy Stunts and Wicked Curve Balls

We are so sad that our cousin Collin is moving away to Utah tomorrow.  The girls will miss him dreadfully.  We decided to give Collin a huge send-off before he left and what better send-off than an evening at the circus followed by ice cream at McDonalds.  I hadn't been to the circus since I was probably nine years old, so I'd forgotten (or more likely never realized) how nerve-wracking it could be.  I'm just getting too old too watch some of those death-defying stunts.  The tight-rope walkers gave me a panic attack, I had to cover my eyes during the flying trapeze and I was about to offer the chair stacking gymnast $100 not to add another chair to the wobbly tower on which he was performing hand stands.  These people are crazy!  I told Miranda at one point that I just couldn't watch anymore and she told me, "What are you worried about mom?  If that guy falls, it's his problem - not yours."  Sure - until I'm in therapy after seeing his mangled limbs sprawled out all over the colliseum floor.

Chad finally had time to squeeze in a pitching lesson one week before baseball tryouts.  It was the first and last lesson he will have this year with Scott who is heading off to spring training this week for the Toronto Blue Jays.  Consequently, we thought we'd better get a picture after the lesson.  Scott hadn't seen Chad since last year before he left, so he was pretty surprised at how tall he had gotten.  As a matter of fact, you can tell that Scott told Chad he'd pose for a picture only if Chad crouched down jus a litle bit. Funny!

Oh, I hate the circus. I don't know how anyone gets pleasure out of watching someone almost die. And the circus' with the animals? Just plain mean. My kids wonder why they've never been. Maybe a grandparent will be up for it. I think we may do a Cirque de Soleil thing someday.
And boy, does Chad look like a ball player!
