Baseball season is a funny thing. It lasts from March until June and let me just say that there is a dramatic change in New Mexico's weather over the course of those four months. For the first month or so, The kids wear multiple layers of Under Armour and the parents bundle up in jackets and blankets if they can tough it up enough to sit outside of the car. By June, the kids wear multiple layers of sunscreen and the parents sit under umbrellas and drink gatorades and slushies. This is a picture from Chad's last weekend game. It was at 1:00 in the afternoon and it was over 100 degrees. The boys had their sleeves rolled and their buttons undone. They looked wilted by the end of the game. It's about this time that we are really ready for the season to be over.
This is the team party after the final game on Wednesday. As you can tell by Chad's look, it didn't go well. The Yankees actually had an excellent record but you wouldn't know it judging by the way they played that night. Maybe they were just tired of baseball season too. Sadly, this may prove to have been Chad's last baseball game ever depending on whether he tries out for and makes the high school team next year and unfortunately, he struck out on his last at bat. And since you all know what a great sport I am, you can imagine what a delight I was for the rest of the evening. (Incidentally, that's why Chad isn't wearing his uniform. I told him I was in too bad of a mood to go out and party after the game, so we went home and he had time to change before I caved and took him.)
Here they are after a good meal. Aw! The miraculous healing powers of Chilies cuisine. Man I'm gonna miss little league. Thankfully, Aaron still has two more years.
